After you submit your alphanumeric sender ID registration, the authorized representative for your business will receive an email with a secure verification link. This guide walks you through what to expect when you click that link and complete the verification process.
The verification is handled by our secure identity verification partner and consists of two parts:
- Business verification - confirming your business details and your association with the business
- Identity verification - confirming your identity using a government-issued photo ID
The entire process takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes. The verification link is valid for 14 days.
What you will need
Before clicking the verification link, make sure you have the following ready:
Your business registration number (e.g. Companies House number, NZBN, EIN, or equivalent in your country)
Your business website URL
Your business address
Your corporate email address (the same email used during sender ID registration)
A valid government-issued photo ID (passport, national ID card, or driver's license)
A device with a camera (for the ID photo and selfie)
Good lighting (for the selfie/liveness check)
Part 1: Business Verification
When you click the verification link in the email, you'll be taken to a secure verification page.
The verification flow will guide you through the process starting with an acknowledgement that you are authorized to complete this registration on behalf of the business:
Then verifying the email address:
Step 1: Enter your business details
You'll see a Business details screen asking you to confirm your organization's information.
Fill in the following:
Business name - your full registered business name
Trading name (optional) - if your business operates under a different name
Country - select the country where your business is registered
Business type - select whether your business is a Sole Proprietor or an Entity (company, partnership, etc.)
Click Continue.
Step 2: Enter your registration details
On the next screen, provide your official business registration details:
Registration number type - select the type of registration from the dropdown (e.g. Australian Business Number, UK Company Number, NZBN)
Registration number value - enter your registration number
Business website (optional) - your company's official website URL
Business address - start typing and select from the autocomplete suggestions, or click "edit address manually" to enter it yourself
Registered address - if your registered address is the same as your business address, tick "Same as business address"
Click Continue.
Step 3: Confirm your identity as the authorized representative
You'll see a Verify your identity screen. This confirms you are the person authorized to act on behalf of the business.
Fill in the following:
First name and Last name
Job title - your role at the business
Email address - enter your corporate email address. A one-time verification code will be sent to this email.
Click Continue.
Step 4: Verify your email
Check your inbox for an email containing a one-time verification code. Enter the code on the verification screen to confirm you own the email address you provided.
Tip: If you don't see the email, check your spam or junk folder. The email will come from our verification partner.
Step 5: Business verification complete
Once your email is verified, you'll see a confirmation screen: "Congratulations, you're done! Thanks for completing the Business Verification."
Your business details will now be checked against the official business register in your country. This happens automatically in the background.
Part 2: Identity Verification
After completing the business verification, you'll receive an email to verify your identity using a government-issued photo ID. This confirms that you are who you say you are.
Step 1: Consent and begin
You'll see a Verify your identity screen explaining that a government-issued photo ID is required. The screen includes information about how your biometric data will be processed and stored.
Read the consent information, then click Begin verifying.
Step 2: Select your country and document type
Select the country that issued your ID document
Choose your document type: Driver's License, Passport, or National ID Card
.
Step 3: Capture the front and Back of your ID
You'll be asked to take a clear photo of the front and back of your ID document.
If you're on a mobile device, your camera will open automatically
If you're on a desktop, you can upload a photo or use your webcam
Make sure the entire document is visible, well-lit, and in focus
This step also allows you to continue the verification on another device.
Step 4: Take a selfie (liveness check)
The final step is a selfie/liveness check to confirm you are the same person shown on the ID document.
Your front-facing camera will activate
Centre yourself on the screen
Follow the on-screen prompts (e.g. "Look slightly right")
The photo will be captured automatically once your position is correct ("Auto capture on")
Tips for a successful selfie:
Make sure your face is well-lit (face a window or light source)
Remove sunglasses or hats
Keep a neutral expression
Hold your device at eye level
Step 5: Verification complete
Once your selfie is captured and matched against your ID, you'll see a confirmation screen: "Congratulations, you're done! Thanks for verifying your identity."
You can now close the verification window. No further action is required from you.
What happens after verification
Once you've completed both parts of the verification:
Your details are checked automatically. Our verification partner processes your business registry check and identity match. This typically completes within minutes.
Our team reviews your sender ID. We confirm that your requested sender ID matches your registered business name, trademark, or domain.
We submit your registration to ACMA. Once everything checks out, we register your sender ID with the Australian Communications and Media Authority on your behalf.
You'll be notified. We'll email you when your sender ID registration is approved.
The review and ACMA submission process typically takes 1 to 3 business days after you complete verification.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the verification take? The entire process (business verification + identity verification) takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes. Results are typically processed within minutes after you complete the flow.
My verification link has expired. What do I do? If the 14-day window has passed, contact our support team and we'll send you a new link.
I didn't receive the email verification code. Check your spam or junk folder. The code is sent from our verification partner's email address. If you still can't find it, try requesting a new code on the verification screen.
My ID photo keeps getting rejected. Make sure the entire document is visible, the image is in focus, and there's no glare. Place the ID on a flat, dark surface and take the photo in good lighting. Avoid holding the ID in your hand if possible.
The selfie check isn't working. Make sure you have good lighting on your face (not behind you). Remove glasses if they're causing glare. Follow the on-screen prompts carefully and wait for the auto-capture to take the photo.
Can I complete the verification on my phone? Yes. The verification works on both desktop and mobile devices. Mobile devices often provide a better experience for the ID photo and selfie steps since they have better cameras.
What happens if I use a personal email (e.g. Gmail) instead of my corporate email? You may be asked to provide additional documentation, such as a Letter of Authorization on company letterhead, to confirm your association with the business. We recommend using your corporate email to avoid this extra step.
Is my data secure? Yes. The verification is handled by an industry-standard identity verification provider. Your ID photos and biometric data are encrypted and stored securely. Sinch Engage does not store your raw ID images. Your biometric information is stored for no more than 3 years in accordance with the provider's privacy policy.
Can someone else at my company complete the verification instead of me? Only the person named as the authorized representative during the sender ID registration can complete the verification. If you need to change the authorized representative, contact our support team before starting the verification.
