Messages can also be sent to Salesforce users which is helpful to notify users of activity on the records they own or to share information with your users in bulk.
A message can be sent to a user in the following ways:
Important - Messages sent & received to a user record only are assigned to the user and there will be no "Related To" value. Therefore, unless you are a System Administrator or permissions are modified, only the individual user will be able to view these task records. |
Message an Individual User
Send an individual message directly from the user's profile page with the Send SMS link.
1. Ensure the Send SMS custom link has been added to the user profile page layout - see this article.
2. On the user profile page, find the Custom Links section and select the Send SMS link.
3. In the composition area, configure and send your message - see this article.
Message Multiple Users
Send a bulk message to multiple users from the SMS to Users tool in the MercurySMS app.
1. Navigate to the SMS to Users tab in the Mercury SMS app.
2. Select the appropriate View of users.
3. Select the users to include in the recipient list.
4. Click the Send SMS button.

Message a Record Owner
Send a message from a record by referencing the user's mobile phone number on the object.
1. Create a formula field on the desired object to pull in the owner's mobile phone number - ensure the name of the field contains "phone".
2. When sending a message from a record or creating a template, select the owner's mobile phone field that was added to the object in the last step as the Send to value.

Note - To send a message to the owner of a Case, create a custom formula text field called Owner Phone on the Case object referencing the mobile field of the record owner. The Owner Phone field will now be available from the Case record. |
