An Audience Segment refers to a subgroup within a larger audience that shares common characteristics such distinct preferences, behaviors, or needs. Segmenting audiences allows you to deliver more targeted and personalised messages, resulting in more effective communication and higher levels of engagement with your audience.
For example, you can create a segment for all contacts who's birthday is in May and send a promotional offer, or you can create a segment for all contacts in a particular town if you're organising an event in that region.
Create a Segment
1. In the menu, click on Contacts, then select Segments:
2. Click on New segment:
3. Give your segment a name.
4. Select a segment category.
5. Then select your preferred segment criteria.
6. Now configure how you want to segment your list - for this example, we're using the "location" contact field and we'll enter the name ("Box Hill") of a location in the eastern suburbs.
7. You can also configure additional items of criteria where necessary by clicking on the +AND and +OR buttons - for this example, we'll include additional location names that are also in the eastern suburbs.
8. Once you're happy with your criteria, click Save. You can also preview matches by clicking on View matches.
Using Segments in Campaigns
Now you can use these segments in your campaigns to further personalize your outreach. You'll be able to select segments as recipients just like you would with lists, and then continue through the usual campaign creation process - just look for this tab:
